La Desirade Beach

Located on what is the least developed island in the Guadeloupe system, La Desirade Beach is the perfect escape for anyone seeking to leave everything behind for a while. The beach has nice and calm water that makes for a picturesque scenery to relax to. Just keep in mind that there is not much here. Do not expect to find restaurants, stores, rental facilities; nothing.

Located on Desirade Island, La Desirade Beach is on the South West coast of the island, You should consider stopping by regardless of whether you're staying in the immediate vicinity. Families and groups of friends who decide to check out this beach can make the most of their relaxation time without missing an opportunity to meet new people.

How to Access The Beach

There is a small airstrip on the island, however the most popular mode of transportation for getting to La Desirade Beach is on a boat.

Amenities and Ambiance

Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, but you may be able to find facilities at a nearby business. The water in the area is of good snorkeling quality, so bring along some equipment if you're hoping to see what lies beneath the surface.

La Desirade Beach offers an angelic and serene escape, especially since the surrounding area is positioned apart from more urban areas.

What's Nearby


La Desirade Beach is beautiful natural attraction, which you'll find on the South West coast of Desirade Island. It is near Terre-de-Bas Lighthouse, which is located nine miles away, and it is one of a number of favorite local destinations.

History-focused attractions such as Domaine de Zevallos are a nice compliment to the scenery of La Desirade Beach, and allow visitors to learn more about Guadeloupe, without having to leave the coast.

Cities and Towns

It might be a bit of a trek to get there, but at 13 and a half miles away, Saint-Francois is the closest population center. although you may find some smaller residential areas nearer to the beach.


The popularity of this spot on any given day can vary, it depends mainly on when you visit, and how full nearby hotel rooms are. This spot is not near many large hotels, but you may meet visitors from the few small lodgings in the area.


You might not run into any places to grab a bit to eat near this location, so you may choose to plan a picnic for your day in the sun.

Other Beaches

Desirade Island has many nice beaches, and La Desirade Beach is just one option.

You may also like Anse des Chateaux, which is generally a pretty popular beach. It is located seven and a half miles to the west-southwest. However, if you're looking to enjoy a quieter scene, Terre-de-Haut is a location which doesn't see as many crowds. You'll find it nine and a half miles away.

Another location you may want to try is Point du Nord, located reasonably close-by, which means a quick ride in a taxi will get you here pretty easily.

Guadeloupe offers endless ways to discover its natural beauty, and La Desirade Beach is just one of the many options.
