Plage de la Malendure

Avid underwater explorers can enjoy excellent scuba diving, the beach's main attraction, at Plage de La Malendure. Visitors looking to simply sit on the beach and play in the water may be better off going elsewhere, but will still find their basic needs met here.

Located near the heart of the island of Basse-Terre, in the vicinity of Mahaut, Plage de la Malendure is on the North edge of the island, You might want to drop by whether or not you're staying very close. You will typically find plenty of beach space once you hit the sand, as the surrounding region and the beach itself are not overly congested.

Amenities and Ambiance

Plage de la Malendure is located on the west side of Basse-Terre, which is also the more peaceful side.

The concession stand located here is another lunchtime alternative. If available, you could also buy some food from one of the mobile vendors who typically set up shop here.

Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, so if you're visiting with small children you might want to consider a different location. You will find the water here is clear and good for snorkeling, so purchase or rent some gear if you want to do some underwater exploration. With most visitors retreating to the waters, this beach rarely gets overcrowded.

If you happen to go for sunny days which offer those who visit a tranquil experience, then think about trying out Plage de la Malendure; it's located in a much quieter sector of the region.
