Rental Cars on Harbour Island

There is no need for a full-sized vehicle on Harbour Island

Rental cars are a go-to option for many tourists as they plan a vacation. They are so popular that when you book a getaway on-line, you can generally do so with a package that includes air fare, accommodations, and a rental car. Of course, it doesn't make sense to rent a full-sized vehicle for every destination you may be considering. Harbour Island is one of those places.

Renting a Cart

The small size of this island makes it so that renting a car simply is not necessary. You can walk pretty much everywhere you want to go, plus many hotel and rental home properties include the use of a non-motorized bicycle. If you much have a vehicle to get around, your best option will be to rent a golf cart.

There are somewhere between 800 and 3,000 golf carts on the island if you count those used by residents as well as tourists. They come in two and four seaters, are basically open to the elements, and though they move slower than a typical car, they are fast enough and powerful enough to get you around Harbour Island. In order to rent a golf cart here, you'll need to be over the age of 18 and in possession of a valid driver's license from your home country. If you intend to visit for more than three months, you'll need to apply for an International Driver's License.

Check out the following chart which lists some of the area rental agencies.

Rental Costs

The cost of a golf cart rental is somewhere around $50(USD) a day, though this can vary depending on how long you rent for, who you rent with, and the demand for rentals at the time you visit. Some accommodations include the use of a cart as part of their stay, so be sure to ask if this is true of your hotel or rental property before you reserve one elsewhere.

Gas Stations

A golf cart can be a fun and unique form of transportation. During your stay on Harbour Island you'll quickly become used to navigating the roads behind the wheel of one of these compact vehicles, and may like it so much you'll miss the convenience when you return home.
