If you're a fan of sand, Holbox is the town for you. The beaches feature some of the softest and whitest sands you could ever hope to encounter, but the really unique thing about this town is that many of the streets are made of this same sand, with an occasional tiled walking path built in. For this reason, many people simply forget about their shoes and walk around town barefoot. Back to the shoreline, the waters are a deeper shade of blue than the rest of the region as the Caribbean Sea meets with the Gulf of Mexico, but the surf remains gentle and this is a great town for casual swimmers.
You will find a handful of beaches to consider on the island. Snorkeling is an option at some of the beaches, if some members of your party enjoy the underwater scene. Simply click on individual names to get additional information concerning that particular stretch of sand.
Punta Mosquito: On the East side of the island just short distance from the downtown area is Punta Mosquito. Don't be fooled by the name, this beach is actually a lovely spot typified by flamingo sightings and a sandbar.
Another option worth considering is Holbox Beach. If you are on Holbox, you can get to the beach. Just start walking north and you'll find your way.
Punta Coco: Located on the western edge of the island, Punta Coco is known as one of the best beaches on the island to witness the famed Isla Holbox sunsets.
