Holetown Buses

In Holetown, the buses are many and the stops are frequent.  Admittedly, it will take you longer to get around by bus than if you were to take a taxi or to drive yourself, but the low price and the experience itself makes this option worth considering.

When you're looking for a bus in Holetown you'll notice that there are three different options available to you. The first is the regular public bus. These are actual buses, painted the national colors of blue and yellow. The second option is private buses, which are minivans painted identically, and the third are “ZR” buses, which are white minivans that are privately owned. All operate on set schedules, and charge BD$2 per one way trip, so your own concern when choosing amongst them will likely be if the bus is heading in the right direction. Also note that while private buses will be able to provide change, you will need exact change when riding a public bus.

Buses originate out of Bridgetown, but have an extensive network of stops throughout Barbados, and there are plenty in Holetown. Bus stops are marked by red, white, and black signs, and many will indicate whether the bus is coming from or going to Bridgetown.

Buses run between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and midnight, and although they are some of the most reliable in the Caribbean, you may not want to use them when you have important events schedules, just in case you happen to get a bus that is running a bit behind schedule.
