Humacao is unique in the way that it caters to tourists from all walks of life. Not only is this town home to Palmas del Mar, one of the most luxurious resort communities on the island, but it also features an important wildlife refuge and one of its two small islands is inhabited by islands that once took part in scientific experiments. Visitors can choose which path they'd like to take and which attraction they'd like to see, then meet up at night in one of the casinos – which seems to be one thing that no matter what their style, tourists can't seem to resist.
You will find a large number of beaches to consider visiting in and around the area. Click on the name of the beach for detailed information about that beach.
Humacao Beach: Backed by coconut palms and a small fresh water pool, Humacao has soft tan sand and green waters.
Another alternative to consider is Morillo Beach. Calle Dr. Vidal runs alongside the beach, where you can exit onto a dirt road that will take you to the sand.
Playa Punta Santiago: This beach is unique in that it features both white and black sands; the white comes from washed up coral, and the black is volcanic matter. Meanwhile, the waters that wash ashore are aquamarine, making the color wheel of Playa Punta Santiago something to behold.
Luckily, you'll find plenty of other beaches to choose from in and around the area. To see our full guide to beaches, navigate to this page.
