Inagua Attractions

Inagua, which is comprised of both Great Inagua and Little Inagua, is the "land" of national parks.  183,740 acres of Great Inagua is designated as the Inagua National Park, while the entire 30 square miles of Little Inagua is a national park where feral donkeys run wild, numerous bird species proliferate, and herds of goats can be seen munching on the grass.  If nature isn't your thing, you won't find much to take advantage of here, outside of the quiet feel which allows visitors to feel like they've found a true getaway.

The Inagua National Park is about one hours’ drive from Matthew Town and covers 183,740 acres of Great Inagua.

You'll find a large number of beaches to visit on the island. Snorkeling is an option at some of these beaches, if some of the people in your group enjoy the underwater scene. You can click on the name of each beach for detailed information about that specific beach.

If you love to snorkel, a location where that's an option is North West Point Beach. Aptly name for its location just south of the island's north-west tip, North West Beach is one of Inagua's secluded picturesque hideaways that is perfect for all of your favorite beach day activities.

A second option that beach-goers can consider is Farquharson Beach. Set near a western tip of the island, Farquharson Beach is just the spot for those looking for an out-of-the-way beach that is both picturesque and uncrowded.

Needless to say, the area is home to some other choices for beaches on the island. To reach our full guide to beaches, go to this article.

Nature Preserves and Hiking

Do you want to enjoy part of your vacation out in the fresh air? You may be happy to find out that the island has several nature preserves on it.

Inagua National Park is a popular nature preserve situated in central Inagua. Bird watchers will not want to pass up a chance to explore Great Inagua Island, home of Inagua National Park -- otherwise known as the largest breeding colony in the world of West Indian Flamingos.
