Ekab Maya Ruin

Dating back to a time when Isla Mujeres was called Ekab, these Maya ruins served as both a temple and a lighthouse for maritime travelers. The feature was crucial for the Maya who would travel to the island to mine for salt and other resources.

While most of the ruins have survived, the defining feature, the arch, has collapsed. Luckily, most of the rest has maintained its shape, and it is easy to use your imagination to see the rest.
