Since 1749, Appleton Estate has been Jamaica's premier fine rum producer. Today, over 20 varieties of rum are produced on site and sold world wide. Tours are available for guests interested in learning about the distillation process and the history of the property.

What to Expect

The tour of Appleton Estate offers guests a first hand look at rum production, both historically and present day. This includes displays of the types of machinery that was used over 200 years ago. After the 2 hour tour, each guest receives their very own bottle of Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum to take home. For an additional cost, guests have access to their Jamaican-inspired buffet, cocktails and smaller plates of food. If contacted in advance, the restaurant will provide vegan and gluten-free options.

There is a gift shop on site, where guests may choose to buy t-shirts, key chains or even golf balls.

Staying Close

Appleton Estate Rum Distillery is located in Saint Elizabeth Parish, so those visiting this part of Jamaica will have easy access to this distillery throughout their trip. With just a small number of hotels in the neighborhood surrounding the distillery, a small amount of tourist movement should be bargained on.

Operating Hours

Operating hours are Monday through Saturday, between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Tours begin every hour. On Sundays and local holidays, the estate is closed.

A tour of the Appleton Estate, including a bottle of rum, costs $72(USD) per person.

Yet, you do not need to carry cash around, since Appleton Estate Rum Distillery accepts Master Card and Visa.
