1 | Tower Isle West Beach

Though its right off the road, this little beach is hidden by foliage. The sand here is fine white powder, so soft it feels luxurious.

Head 11 miles (18 kilometers) to the west-northwest from the center of Port Maria to get to this beach.

Soft sand, warm waters and the mouth of the Rio Nuevo make this an enjoyable beach to explore.

Ian Flemming, author of the James Bond novels, spent a lot of his time in Jamaica on this beach, which is now named after 007. Today, visitors can visit the shores that served as inspiration for Flemming and spend their days swimming, sun bathing, and participating in a variety of water sports.

Along Jamaica's north coast is Port Maria North, a relatively small beach compared to its sister Port Maria. Still, it serves as a nice, quiet locale to enjoy a day on the shore.

1 | Yerba Buena Beach

The sand is dark and the water may at times be tumultuous here, but this beach provides a beautiful view of the Caribbean behind a rocky cliff and there's a nearby hiking trail.

You will be able to find this beach 11.7 miles (18.8 km) to the northwest of the center of Buff Bay.

2 | Annotto Bay

This urban beach is more convenient than pretty, but it does have the same warm and enveloping waters of the Caribbean and the sand, though dark, is soft on your bare feet.

Travel four and a half miles (seven kilometers) south-southeast from Yerba Buena Beach to find this beach.

3 | Golden Grove Beach

In the parish of Golden Grove is a quiet beach of the same name. Not very well known amongst tourists, Golden Grove is a great place to find tranquility on an island of overcrowded beaches.

Interested guests will find this beach 1.4 miles from Iter Boreale, in Saint Mary Parish, three and a half miles (five and a half kilometers) to the east of Annotto Bay.

4 | Palmetto Bay

This thin stretch of sand is distanced from the development nearby, down an access road. It's a beautiful spot to enjoy the natural setting of the island.

5 | Windsor Castle Beach

The sand is gray on this beach and its a thin patch before it meets ocean on one side or trees and brush on the other. One of the best features of this beach is rocky formations by the shore that make for scenic and turbulent splashes of waves.

Palmetto Bay is a mile and a half (two and a half kilometers) to the west-northwest of this beach.

6 | Buff Bay

Located in the sleepy town of Buff Bay is an equally sleepy beach of the same name. While Crystal Springs is the real attraction in this town, Buff Bay is a great option for vacationers who are looking for a day at he beach away from the crowds.

A flat, grey sand beach without much adornment, this spot has easy acceptability and a quiet ambiance.

San San Beach is a private beach near Frenchman's Cove for guests of surrounding resorts. One of the biggest scuba diving reefs is near San San Beach for experienced and adventurous scuba divers, while smaller reefs perfect for snorkeling are just off the coast. On one side of A4 in this part of Portland, miles and miles of thick green forestry can be seen, while directly on the other you will find Rural Hill Beach. As the name suggests, the beach is in a rural area, making it relatively unknown by most tourists.

Bluefields Beach is quite pretty. Large trees serve as a backdrop to the white sand and blue waters.

5 | Whitehouse Beach

Surrounded by small town activity, this is a beach near a pier and there are often a good number of vessels in the water and on the beach. Warm, calm waters make for good wading and swimming, but there's no snorkeling here.

This beach is located on the southern outskirts of Whitehouse, a mile and a half (three kilometers) southeast of Crab Pond Bay.

On the quieter side of a little bay, Sandy Ground beach boasts soft, tan sand and waters that are calmed from the shape of the bay.

Font Hill Beach, located in St. Elizabeth between Black River and Whitehouse, is a part of the Fonthill Nature Reserve. The beach sees a fair amount of traffic, though usually in the form of locals who enjoy their best kept secret.

This beautiful untouched bay has a thin patch of white sand and a lot of mangrove forest behind it. It is one of the most pristine places left in Jamaica.

9 | Hunt Bay

Sandwiched between Kingston and Portmore is the lovely Hunt Bay. Because Hunt's Bay is not set in a populous resort town, vacationers who hope to experience a quiet day at the beach have a better chance of doing so here.

Clean shores and waters are the main attraction at Fort Clarence. Although steeped in history, the fort itself was left to itself and is now in a state of disrepair.

Found on the southern edge of the town of Hellshire, this beach is located 29.2 miles (47.0 km) to the southeast of Jamaica.

The shows at Hellshire Beach are legendary and draw extremely large crowds to its shores. Beauty contests, concerts, and various other activities keep this beach active and packed on the weekends.

3 | Lime Cay

Little Laughlands Bay is located in Saint Ann. Aside from a resort set on the beach, nothing except a river, trees, and flat lands exists for miles around the coast, making this a great locale for getting away from it all.

This beach has soft white sand with a few patches of famous Caribbean pink sand. Trees line the back side of the beach, but nothing sits on the sand or shore itself.

This is a long beach on a deep and beautiful cove in Jamaica's northwest coast. Trees pepper the beach and provide shade for visitors.

In a deep, almost crescent indentation along the north shore of Jamaica is where you'll find Bulls Bay North. The beach serves as a great getaway for a day of lounging in a tropical setting.

Beneath a rocky cape, this beach is urban on one side and untamed on the other. You could walk from Watson Taylor beach to the museum, the library or other very close attractions.

This beach provides the ocean views for the golf club that surrounds it. If you're looking for the wilds of Jamaica and a touch of fierceness to your beaches, say a rocky cliff or a piece of imaginative driftwood, move on because this is a very manicured place.
