James Bond Beach

Ian Flemming, author of the James Bond novels, spent a lot of his time in Jamaica on this beach, which is now named after 007. Today, visitors can visit the shores that served as inspiration for Flemming and spend their days swimming, sun bathing, and participating in a variety of water sports.

Located in Saint Mary Parish, 0.6 miles west of Oracabessa, James Bond Beach is on the North East coast of Jamaica. You might think about stopping by even if you aren't staying very close. Though you wouldn't necessarily call James Bond Beach secluded, it's also not an overly crowded beach. So while this isn't the most private place on the island to spend time with your sweetheart, it's a good alternative to beaches in urban areas, where the noise of crowds and traffic can kill a romantic mood.

How to Access The Beach
James Bond Beach is situated 10 miles to the east of Ocho Rios, off A3, on the Oracabessa Bay peninsula. You'll find the beach just off Main Street.

Amenities and Ambiance

James Bond Beach is as close to the idyllic tropical beach as it comes, with its blindingly blue waters that lap the ivory shores in such a rhythmic motion that it can be mesmerizing. The St. Marys Mountains serve as the stunning backdrop to this already near-perfect beach.

There is also a restaurant on-location, which many James Bond Beach visitors find convenient and satisfying. Jamaica offers plenty of great places to eat, but don't think that table-side service and a lengthy menu are necessary to enjoy a tasty meal. Some visitors, in fact, like having lunch very close-by. With this in mind, you might ask your hotel if they offer to pack picnic lunches for their guests. Or, you could find just what you need from cafes and street vendors en route to the beach.

Many visitors find themselves ordering a drink or snack from the concessions here, even if they move off-site for lunch. On some days, it may be possible to buy some food from one of the mobile vendors who typically operate along this coastline.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, but you may be able to find facilities at a nearby business. Tourists visiting the island's north coast won't want to miss out on all that this beach has to offer. It is a favorite hotspot for both locals and tourists.
