Puero Seco Beach

Discover Bay, which is where Christopher Columbus was said to have first landed in Jamaica, is the location of Puero Seco Beach. This beach is a favorite amongst families, because there is so much to do here. A water slide is available for the younger set, and there are places to rent motorized water sports for adults.

Located toward the center of Discovery Bay, Puero Seco Beach is on the North edge of Jamaica. You should consider stopping by regardless of whether you are staying particularly close by. Although Jamaica has more secluded beaches than Puero Seco Beach, it offers just enough privacy to attract small crowds.

How to Access The Beach
Puero Seco Beach is in Discovery Bay, just 5 miles west of Runaway Bay. Take Norman Manley Boulevard to Fortlands Road to access the beach.

Amenities and Ambiance

Puero Seco Beach looks out over Discovery Bay from the east. The shore is lined with soft, white sand and enjoys very calm waters. Especially by the port that juts out into the sea, you'll find that you can walk about 15 to 20 feet into the water before it begins to get deep.

Of course, there is also a restaurant located right on-site. There are an assortment of dining options in Jamaica, but not all your meals have to be in a sit-down restaurant. Many visitors, in fact, would rather eat lunch by the shoreline than in a different restaurant. Sometimes, hotels offer to pack up on-the-go lunches for their guests. Or, on your way to the beach you could grab some carry-out from a casual dining spot.

There is also a snack bar here.

Unfortunately, public restrooms aren't available, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot. You'll find the waters off-shore to be clear enough for snorkeling, so grab your gear if you're wanting to check out the underwater sites.

Remember to take into account that the immediate vicinity around Puero Seco Beach is a popular spot, so factor that into your plans.
