Set in Portland Parish, 2.3 miles north of Long Road, Rural Hill Beach is on the East coast of Jamaica. You might want to drop by whether or not you are staying particularly close by. This beach is not just a pleasant attraction, it's one of the rare "quiet" beaches in Jamaica. While Rural Hill Beach may be a little more difficult to reach, it provides a rare chance to escape crowds of tourists.

Rural Hill Beach is a small plot of white, fluffy sound, with large water beaten rocks lining the shore right where tide typically comes in.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, which is something to consider if you're bringing the kids, or plan to spend all day outside. You'll find the waters off-shore to be clear enough for snorkeling, so bring along some equipment if you want to do some underwater exploration.

Travelers who like this beach might also enjoy Fairy Hill Beach, located within cab range of the beach. Fairy Hill Beach attracts locals and visitors alike to its energetic shores. During the week crowds are at a minimum and snorkeling is fantastic at the small off shore reef, but bring your own equipment. A small eatery serves vegetarian and Jamaican jerk dishes for a nice afternoon snack. More active guests, though, may be interested in Winnifred Beach, which could provide a little more opportunity for excitement, and isn't far from other tourist hot-spots. It's found nine and a half miles to the northwest.

Another option worth considering is Innis Bay Beach, which is located only a short distance away.

Rural Hill Beach could be the ideal stretch of sand, but it is possible that it may not be the best choice for your family; in which case you should find a beach with a seclusion factor that suits you.
