Winnifred Beach

This thin and picturesque beach is in a cove, surrounded by trees and brush. Its a perfect spot for a warm swim or a casual snorkeling exploration. The round shape of the cove and the dense cover make you feel secluded and at peace while you're here. It's a quintessential Caribbean escape.

Located in Fairy Hill, Winnifred Beach is on the East coast of Jamaica. You might think about stopping by regardless of whether you are staying very close. Not looking forward to staking out a spot at a busy beach? All the more reason you should find a beach that isn't lined with high-rise hotels; the lovely, less-traveled shores of beaches like Winnifred Beach might not be typical "beach scenes", but are nice and private.

Amenities and Ambiance

Small trees provide some shade on the beach proper. The sand is soft and free of debris, though its more tan than brilliant white.

The concession stand at this spot is also an option.

Whether you're eating lunch or just a snack at, you'll appreciate the available picnic tables.

Please note that public restrooms are not available, which is something to consider if you're bringing the kids, or plan to spend all day outside. The water here is fit for snorkeling, so bring your equipment if you're wanting to check out the underwater sites.

Tourist who are planning to utilize the amenities and services offered at this beach, will be thankful; Winnifred Beach is situated in an area which is not generally considered a tourist area. What this means is that there's little need to consider what time you decide to come, as there is a small chance you'll be required to race with any other visitors who might want access to the amenities and services that are available.

Visitors looking for a beach that's right for them in Jamaica will have lots of options besides Winnifred Beach.

You might also enjoy Fairy Hill Beach, located only a short distance away. Fairy Hill Beach attracts locals and visitors alike to its energetic shores. During the week crowds are at a minimum and snorkeling is fantastic at the small off shore reef, but bring your own equipment. A small eatery serves vegetarian and Jamaican jerk dishes for a nice afternoon snack. More active guests, though, may be interested in Tropical Lagoon, which could provide a few more possibilities for excitement, and is closer to nearby attractions. It's located three quarters of a mile to the west.

Vacationers may also want to visit Zion Hill Beach, located within a short distance.

You may find that Winnifred Beach is a great fit for your vacation, but maybe you want to see more; in which case there are other beaches (and other outdoor attractions) worth trying.
