Jolly Harbour is a busy spot for active tourists to travel to. Whatever your interests are, you'll find your days will easily be filled with water and land sports, landmarks to see, beaches to relax on, and beach bars to unwind in. Before any of this can happen; however, you'll need to make your way to the island of Antigua. Of course, the fastest way to get there is to fly, which can easily be done by booking a flight to the V.C. Bird International Airport.
About a half an hour away from Jolly Harbour is the capital city of St. Johns, which will serve as your point of entry should you decide to fly to the Land of the Sun. The airport is called the V.C. Bird International Airport (ANU), and it a moderately sized facility equipped with all of your typical airport offerings. These include a book store, duty free shopping, a cafe, several rental car agencies, currency exchange, and an automatic teller machine. Those who need to remain connected at all times can also pay to use the airport's WiFi service. Much of this has been added in a recent expansion which meant to modernize the facility and make it large enough to handle growing tourism for the next three decades.
LIAT, a popular airline in the Caribbean, has a home base at the airport, which brings quite a lot of traffic from within the region to this airport. Most of this traffic comes from Puerto Rico and St. Maarten, where most flights from the United States, Canada, and Europe will travel to when a direct flight is not available. Although the 9,974 foot long runway is capable of handling the jumbo jets that mainly handle international air traffic, the amount of direct flights from long distances are limited. In total, 850 thousand passengers arrive and depart from this airport annually.
Immigrations also takes up a branch of the airport. Note that they are not known for their speedy service, and reports of tourists waiting in line for up to two hours are more commonplace than most would like. It may be the number of requirements that the government imposes on tourists.
In order to be permitted to enter Antigua, visitors from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom need a passport, an original Naturalization Certificate, confirmation of their accommodations and that they have enough money to make it through their getaway, a return or onward ticket, and a completed immigration form which will be handed out on the plane.

Depending on the time of day and traffic, it could take around 25 minutes to get to Jolly Harbour from the airport. Buses are not a recommended transportation option, since the nearest bus stop is too far away for people carrying luggage to walk to. Taxis are a possibility, costing about $25(USD) for a four-passenger ride. If you want to rent a car and drive, you'll head southwest on Burma Road, take a left onto Sir George Walter Highway, right onto Sir Sydney Walling Highway, continue onto Factory Road, left onto American Road, and right onto Whenner Road. Next, you'll take the second left towards Valley Road, then make a right, and there you will find yourself in Jolly Harbour.
Whether you're able to book a direct flight or you need to make a stop at another airport in the region, flying to Antigua, then making your way to Jolly Harbour by car will almost always be the easiest and most affordable way to get to this destination.
