La Romana is home to its own international airport

Tourists planning a vacation in La Romana will be delighted to learn that this town, which is located on the Dominican Republic's southeast coast, has its very own international airport. It is popularly utilized not only because La Romana is a great tourist destination, but because it is the top arrival point for tourists staying in this resort community of Casa de Campo, which is located within La Romana.

La Romana International Airport

The current airport in La Romana was opened in December of 2000, replacing the former La Romana Airport, which was located south of Zona Franca on the southwest side of Casa de Campo. Simply called La Romana International Airport (LRM), the airport is built in the style of an old sugar mill, has one single terminal with four gates, and a runway measuring 9,678 feet in length. Although it is not the biggest or busiest airport on the island, it did see nearly 375 thousand passengers pass through the airport in 2008, which is a substantial number considering there are seven international airports in the Dominican Republic.

Upon arrival, tourists can rent a car from one of the handful of rental agencies on property, or hire a taxi to take them to their accommodations. Those staying at Casa de Campo should get in touch with the staff of the resort community to arrange pick up.
