How to Reach La Vega by Airplane

A short, scenic drive will transport you from the airport to La Vega

La Vega may be a remote and quiet vacation destination for those who are more inclined to outdoorsy getaways, but it isn't so far away from civilization that the nearest airport is too far away to make it worth traveling to.  In fact, it takes just a half an hour to reach this town from a continuously growing international airport.

About Cibao International Airport

In 2002, Aeropuerto Internacional Cibao (STI) opened its gates in Santiago De Los Caballeros and has been growing ever since.  It is one of the most modern airports on the island with one international terminal, one domestic terminal, and one cargo terminal plus a number of facilities, and by servicing just under on million passengers each yet it is the third busiest air travel facility on the island. Aeropuerto Internacional Cibao is located just 30 minutes away from La Vega by car.

Next Stop, La Vega

Since the drive is short and there are no rental car agencies in La Vega, it is recommended that tourists rent a car at the airport and drive to their final destination.  It is also possible to hire a transfer for between $50 and $70(USD) for five passengers.  If you drive yourself, you'll stick mainly to Route 1 as you drive southeast.

With one of the largest and most modern airports on the island located within easy driving range of La Vega, there is really no reason not to fly.
