Located at the end of the Samana Peninsula, Las Galeras is a quiet town home to a small community of European ex-pats who make their living promoting tourism.  There are plenty of ways to keep busy, from visiting the local beaches to fishing and diving, but as far as actual attractions are concerned, you might have an easier time finding sites to see about a half an hour away in the town of Samana.

Beaches

Las Galeras Beach

You will discover a large selection of beaches to choose from in and around the area. Snorkeling is available at several locations, for vacationers who are so inclined. Just click on each beach name to get additional information about that particular stretch of sand.

Las Galeras Beach: Las Galeras can be found where Highway 5 and Calle de la Playa meet.

Another alternative for beach-goers to consider is La Playita Beach. Just a 15 minute walk from the larger Las Galeras Beach, La Playita, which means "Little Beach" is a small stretch of sand where you can go to dine on fresh seafood or simply get away from the crowds.

Colorada Beach: The beachfront of Colorada Beach is covered in palm trees and tan colored sand. The waters here can be rough, but the turquoise hue is hard to resist.

Fortunately, the area has plenty of other beaches in and around the area. You can read this article if you'd like some more details.
