Las Galeras is known especially for its beaches. One of the best beaches on the island, in fact, is located here, but there are also a couple of lesser known stretches of sand which are equally as beautiful and almost always less crowded. Get to know all of them before you visit and you may find the perfect beach for you isn't necessarily the most popular one.
There are an abundance of beaches to choose from in and around the area. Snorkeling is available at several locations, for those who enjoy this relaxing pastime. For detailed information about a single beach just click on the names of the ones you are curious about.
Colorada Beach: The beachfront of Colorada Beach is covered in palm trees and tan colored sand. The waters here can be rough, but the turquoise hue is hard to resist.
A second alternative that beach-goers can consider is Playa Madama. Located at the very tip of La Samana, Playa Madama is a calm cove protected from the large waves of the Atlantic. Visitors will find it perfect for swimming, playing, relaxing, or really anything, as the calm and crystal clear water and soft sand are inviting all around.
Playa Rincon: Playa Rincon is located at the base of the Cape Cabron Mountain, which stretches up 2000 feet and provides shade to the beach. Down below, the beach stretches along the coast for three miles, featuring sugar white sand, palm groves, and turquoise waters.
