La Playita Beach

Just a 15 minute walk from the larger Las Galeras Beach, La Playita, which means "Little Beach" is a small stretch of sand where you can go to dine on fresh seafood or simply get away from the crowds.

Set in the Samana Peninsula, northwest of Las Galeras, La Playita Beach is on the North East edge of Hispaniola. You might want to drop by even if you aren't staying very close. Seclusion and privacy are the features which most exemplify the Dominican Republic's beaches, but at La Playita Beach, you'll find the same sense of serenity, without having to be too far removed from the city's activity.

La Playita is covered in soft white sand, and shaded by coconut palms. The waters that rush ashore are an beautiful aquamarine. Those who do not particularly care to get wet can lounge in the plastic beach chairs that dot the shore.

Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot.
