From canyons to caverns, it is not the landscape underneath the surface of the sea that attracts divers to Las Terrenas (though it is astounding), but the marine life. Coral reef and other crustaceans, as well as vibrant sea creatures abound in this area.
You'll find two dive operators and a small number of interesting dive sites in the area.
If you're ready to go diving, you might want to check with Turtle Dive Center. There is a lot to recommend Turtle Dive Center, beginning with the fact that it was first first French dive center on the island approved to provide SSI training on the Samana Peninsula. Additionally, they are ambassadors for the Dominican Republic leading the way for the protection of the seabed. They are located in the heart of Las Terrenas.
Another option is Scubaquatic Las Terrenas. One of the top dive centers in the country as well as throughout the Caribbean, you'll encounter a staff of dive pros who really love the sport. Plus, you can spend your scuba down time participating in the other watersports that the organization offers like kayaking and catamaran charters. You can reach them at (809) 468-4055.
