When you plan a trip to Long Island, you do so to escape the busy resort areas of the Bahamas and find a quieter haven where reveling in the beautiful tropical scenery is enough.  This destination is best known for bonefishing and scuba diving, but other activities like sailing, hiking, rock-climbing, and freediving at Dean's Blue Hole are possible as well.

Diving

Long Island Diving

Long Island has some interesting dives in the immediate area. However, one of the best qualities of this destination is its central location and easy access to many of the best sites throughout the Bahamas. If your diving vacation will be nation-wide, Long Island may be a good base-camp for you.

You'll find at least 4 interesting dive sites in the area. To read a more detailed discussion of scuba diving in this area see this page.

Fishing

Long Island Fishing

Long Island is a popular destination for fishermen thanks to its offerings of fishing lodges. Just keep in mind that many of the lodges specialize in the local tradition of bone fishing.
