Boca Catalina

Located in between Malmok and Arashi beaches, Boca Catalina is a popular spot for snorkelers, divers, and sunbathers. Thatched huts offer shady spots, and the calm, clear turquoise waters make it a good spot for kids to get in the water. From the shore, you can watch sailboats and windsurfers while you enjoy the seclusion and tranquility of this relatively uncrowded, while easily accessible, spot. But don't expect much in the way of facilities.

Located on the island of Aruba, 0.7 miles west of Tierra Del Sol, You might want to drop by even if you aren't staying very close. Peace and quiet is what you'll find at the majority of Aruba's beaches, but the ambiance at Boca Catalina is one of both seclusion and activity; this means you can relax without having to be too far removed from the city's activity.

How to Access The Beach
The beach is just off L.G. Smith Blvd, the main road, and access is easy. A car or taxi will take you directly there, and public transportation is also an option as there is a bus stop very close.

Amenities and Ambiance

The water is clear and the currents are not very strong. Expect to swim out a couple hundred feet to reach deep enough waters for really good snorkeling. At the coral reefs off shore, expect to find many kinds of tropical fish, and even barracudas. If you're up for it, you can dive the Antilla Shipwreck, a sunken WWII cargo ship. On shore, the sand is clean, white, and powdery.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, though you may be able to use the facilities at a nearby business. The water here is fit for snorkeling, so grab some equipment if you're hoping to see what lies beneath the surface.

Since Boca Catalina happens to be located inside an area that sees many visitors, you might want consider the time when you plan your visit.

Boca Catalina is very close to Palm Beach, so you can explore the city as part of your day at the beach. Boca Catalina tourists looking for further attractions might think about making the trip to Palm Beach, since it's not far away and is an especially active area of Aruba.


The popularity of this spot on any given day can vary, depending on when you visit, and how many of the nearby hotel rooms have been booked.

Don't expect to find any of Aruba's frequently visited resorts and hotels close to this beach, but if you're hoping to elude throngs of vacationers, the lack of accommodation possibilities will certainly be a welcomed sight.


It's no problem if you start to get the munchies while hanging out at Boca Catalina; you'll have plenty of places to dine, without having to go too far.
