Boca Catalina

Located in between Malmok and Arashi beaches, Boca Catalina is a popular spot for snorkelers, divers, and sunbathers. Thatched huts offer shady spots, and the calm, clear turquoise waters make it a good spot for kids to get in the water. From the shore, you can watch sailboats and windsurfers while you enjoy the seclusion and tranquility of this relatively uncrowded, while easily accessible, spot. But don't expect much in the way of facilities.

Located on the northwestern side of the island of Aruba, 0.7 miles west of Tierra Del Sol, You might want whether or not you're staying in the immediate vicinity. Although the area isn't crowded with buildings, tourists frequently choose this beach since it's removed from certain noisier areas.

How to Access The Beach
The beach is just off L.G. Smith Blvd, the main road, and access is easy. A car or taxi will take you directly there, and public transportation is also an option as there is a bus stop very close.

Amenities and Ambiance

The water is clear and the currents are not very strong. Expect to swim out a couple hundred feet to reach deep enough waters for really good snorkeling. At the coral reefs off shore, expect to find many kinds of tropical fish, and even barracudas. If you're up for it, you can dive the Antilla Shipwreck, a sunken WWII cargo ship. On shore, the sand is clean, white, and powdery.

Please note that public restrooms are not available, though you may be able to use the facilities at a nearby business. You'll find the waters off-shore to be clear enough for snorkeling, so bring your gear if you are looking to do some underwater exploration.

Don't forget that the area right around Boca Catalina is is a much-visited area, so show up early.

This beach is positioned on Aruba's North West coast. It is near Tierra Del Sol Golf Course, which is situated three quarters of a mile to the east, and it is one of a few attractions in the vicinity.

Cities and Towns

Boca Catalina is close to Palm Beach, so travelers staying in town won't have far to go. Guests visiting Boca Catalina who are seeking some additional excitement might think about going to Palm Beach, because it's close-by and is an active, busy area.


Whether or not you encounter a lot of other visitors will depend on if you visit during a popular season, which is often indicated by how busy the hotels are.

You shouldn't anticipate finding any of Aruba's frequently visited resorts and hotels alongside this beach, though if you're trying to dodge throngs of vacationers, the lack of places to stay should be a welcomed sight.


A trip to the beach isn't complete until you walk to an area restaurant, where you can try foods you've never heard of before, within just a few miles of this shoreline. La Trattoria El Faro Blanco Restaurant is one of the closest eateries. This restaurant has a menu featuring Italian cuisine. They're also renowned for their seafood and steak. You and your group can get to this restaurant and start eating in just a few minutes since it's not far off the beach at all.

Other Beaches

Aruba has many nice beaches, so if Boca Catalina doesn't sound like your type of scene, you have options.

Another location you might enjoy is Hadicurari Beach, located just a little ways away. Hadicurari is the windsurfing capital of Aruba and water sports enthusiasts will enjoy the annual Hi-Winds World Challenge and other exciting windsurfing opportunities. The area has beautiful beaches and an exciting atmosphere that appeals to active travelers. However, if that's not exactly what you're looking for, Arashi Beach could provide a few more possibilities for excitement, and isn't far from other tourist hot-spots. You'll find it a half mile to the north-northwest.

Vacationers may also want to visit Malmok Beach, which is located a few hundred yards away.

You may find that Boca Catalina is a great fit for your vacation, but maybe you want to see more; if so, there are other beaches and natural attractions in Aruba you might like.
