If you're considering sailing yourself or even hiring a crewed charter yacht to Malmok, there are a few safety concerns to be aware of including coral reefs, strong tradewinds, and shallow waters close to the coastline. Still, experienced sailors should be familiar with handling these conditions and shouldn't let it discourage them from making the trip.

The official port-of-entry is located at the Barcadera Harbor in Oranjestad, and is the first place you must stop to officially and legally enter Aruba. As you approach the island, you'll put in a call to channel 16/11 on your VHF radio which will connect you with the Aruba Ports Authority. An official will meet you at the dock to review your paperwork, inspect your boat, and determine if you'll be able to enter the country. You can print all of your paperwork via the Port Authority web site before you even begin your trip, so you arrive prepared, and save yourself time going through immigrations, then customs. Be aware that it costs $10(USD) per hour during the week to dock your boat while you complete this process, and $20(USD) per hour during the weekend. After you've been cleared, you can head to your final destination in Malmok.
