Sailing and Boating Near Malmok

The open air and the open sea are too enticing for visitors in Malmok to ignore

Many would agree that the best view of Aruba comes from the sea. A large percentage of visitors choose to experience this at some point during their stay in Malmok by hiring a charter or participating in a sailing tour. Others will try and master the water themselves and sail their own private vessel to their getaway. Both options allow you to experience your vacation in a way that simply can't be done when you vacation in an area that is landlocked in a way that this island can never be.

If you just want to get out onto the water, without the cost and responsibility involved with renting a boat you can take an excursion. Wondering what it's like and what's included? See the listing below to find information on area day sailing companies.

If you're considering sailing yourself or even hiring a crewed charter yacht to Malmok, there are a few safety concerns to be aware of including coral reefs, strong tradewinds, and shallow waters close to the coastline. Still, experienced sailors should be familiar with handling these conditions and shouldn't let it discourage them from making the trip.

The official port-of-entry is located at the Barcadera Harbor in Oranjestad, and is the first place you must stop to officially and legally enter Aruba. As you approach the island, you'll put in a call to channel 16/11 on your VHF radio which will connect you with the Aruba Ports Authority. An official will meet you at the dock to review your paperwork, inspect your boat, and determine if you'll be able to enter the country. You can print all of your paperwork via the Port Authority web site before you even begin your trip, so you arrive prepared, and save yourself time going through immigrations, then customs. Be aware that it costs $10(USD) per hour during the week to dock your boat while you complete this process, and $20(USD) per hour during the weekend. After you've been cleared, you can head to your final destination in Malmok.
