Picturesque Marigot Bay is so pleasing to the eye that it is often used in aerial shots for Hollywood films. Along the shores, tourists will find the beaches to be slightly crowded by others hoping to spend time on some of the most beautiful beaches on the island. If you're looking for something on the private side, ask a local for their pick.
Although these beaches will not generally have bathrooms and changing facilities right on the shores, there are plenty of shops, restaurants, and other establishments nearby that make up for it.
You will discover a large selection of beaches to enjoy in and around the area. Snorkeling is available at some of these beaches, if some members of your party enjoy this relaxing pastime. Click on each beach name for detailed information about that particular stretch of sand.
La Toc Beach: From the center of Castries City, go west past the Ferry Terminal on Millenium Hwy. The road winds a bit, and taking your fourth right will put you on the road with access to the beach.
A second location that beach-goers can consider is Anse Couchon. If you're coming from Castries, take la Toc Rd south and to the coast. It will take you beyond the town of Anse La Raye. Eventually you'll see the Brigand Hill Estate after which you'll take you're next your next right onto a side road which heads toward the coast. This will lead you down to Anse Cochon.
Vigie Beach: The beach runs alongside the Vigie Airport runway, which seems like an immediate drawback; but the airport is relatively quiet, and its presence means a lack of hotels and resorts, keeping the beach clean and peaceful. Being close to Castries, it also puts you in a good location for shopping, dining, and other activities when you're day at the beach is finished.
