Marigot is a very popular shopping destination thanks to its plentiful supply of luxury duty free goods from around the world. People visiting Anguilla often make a point to ride the ferry that travels between the two islands several times a day, but it goes both ways. If you're staying in Marigot and want to day trip to Anguilla, it is a real possibility.
The ferry is a public service, operating between Marigot, St. Martin and Blowing Point, throughout the day. The first ferry leaves from Blowing Point at 7:30 a.m., and Marigot at 8:10 a.m., departing in intervals of about 45 minutes on each side after that. The last boat leaves from Blowing Point at 6:15 p.m. and Marigot at 7:00 p.m.
You do not need to purchase tickets in advance of your trip, but your name will need to be on the manifest 15 minutes in advance of departure time or you will not be able to ride. It takes 25 minutes to sail between the two destinations. The cost of the trip is $15(USD) per person each way, plus a $5(USD) per person when you sail from St. Martin.
