Fort Louis

Once a major component of Marigot's defense, Fort Louis stands over the city offering fantastic views of both Marigot and the island of nearby Anguilla. Visitors will be able to take in the views, and learn about this mighty garrison that has been standing guard for over two-hundred years.

Offerings

Partially in ruins, the fort still gives tourists an idea of what it took to protect the surrounding area. Many find it is pleasurable to hike up the hill to the fort, tour the property, and take a moment to gaze out over the surrounding area, which includes a panoramic view of nearby Anguilla in the distance.

Downtown Marigot is a good option for those wishing to visit Fort Louis, since travelers to this region of St. Martin will be pleased to have easy site access during their time there. Though this location isn't swarming with tourists, you'll still find a fair selection of lodgings to pick from.

There are multitudes of eateries to choose from in the community nearby this historical site. Plongeoir, which serves Asian dishes, is also the most convenient dining option from this site. The dining establishment is a small distance off, but far-removed enough that you might want to aim for using some type of transport to get there. Ali Baba and Bali Bar are some of the other restaurant choices nearby. At Bali Bar you should be sure to eat some International cuisine and experience the St. Martin culture.
