Marsh Harbour is one of the few towns in the Abacos that has full-sized vehicles roaming the streets. Although renting a car in this town is not a necessity, it isn't hard to make it happen for those who prefer to have a vehicle at their beck and call.
The legal driving age in the Bahamas is 17; however, in order to rent a car, most agencies will require you to be at least 21, and often 25 before they will let you rent a car. Assuming you are of age, you'll next need to present a valid driver's license and a credit card with the appropriate available balance on it, and you should have no trouble getting the keys and hitting the road.

...bulk of tourism occurs here...
The most important thing to remember when you get behind the wheel (located on the left side of the vehicle) in Marsh Harbour is that traffic moves on the left side of the road, like in England. Roads are not known for being in the best condition on the island of Abaco, but you'll find that the best roads are in Marsh Harbour thanks to the fact that the bulk of tourism occurs here. Great Abaco Highway, which is fully graded and tarred, connects Marsh Harbour with all of the other settlements on the island including Snake Cay, Cherokee Sound, Red Bays, and Mango Hill. As you explore the areas surrounding Marsh Harbour, you'll find mainly dirt roads with no lighting and very few street signs.
Rentals in Marsh Harbour generally cost between $70 and $100(USD) a day, though some companies will offer deals if you rent for a week or more. Just keep in mind that the prices to fluctuate with the season.
Car rentals aren't the only option in Marsh Harbour. Renting a scooter or a moped can be a fun way to spend a day exploring. Scooter rentals will often cost around $40 a day and require a deposit of $200(USD).
Driving in the Bahamas can take some getting used to, especially for those who drive on the right side of the road in their home country. Still, it can be done and is a great option for those who will be spending most of their days out and about exploring Marsh Harbour and the rest of Abaco.
