No matter where you stay in the Bahamas, sailing plays an important role both with regards to transportation and entertainment. Marsh Harbour in particular is a popular destination amongst yachters who sail from Florida, but those who don't have the skill set to sail themselves will definitely want to hire a local to get them out to sea at least once during their stay.
If you aren't flying into Marsh Harbour, you're sailing. This can be done between the time the sun rises and sets from the coast of south Florida, so many yachters will begin their journey from there, whether they are sailing the vessel themselves or hiring a crew to take the lead. Because Marsh Harbour is an official port of entry in the Bahamas, tourists can sail directly into town and take care of all of the formalities of visiting a foreign country there.
