Swimming and snorkeling are available at Anse Mitan, but beware of the deep water. The golden beaches are perfect for sunbathing, however.

Positioned on the eastern edge of L'Anse Mitan, 3.9 miles south of Fort de France, this beach is on the South West edge of Martinique. You should consider dropping by whether or not you are staying in the vicinity. Eventually, visitors notice that beaches throughout Martinique tend to be pretty quiet, but at Anse Mitan your experience will be different.

Amenities and Ambiance

The golden beaches of Anse Mitan feature clear but deep water. The shore is spotted with palm trees, which conceal a few small bistros. There are no reefs or barriers to protect the beach and few fish can be seen in the water's depths.

There is also a great restaurant right on-site if you're interested; many find it the perfect, convenient solution for lunch. There are an assortment of dining options on Martinique, but you don't have to eat every meal in a formal setting. Many visitors simply sit on their towels——not in a restaurant——to enjoy lunch. So, you may wish to consider getting pre-packed lunches from your hotel if they offer them. Or, it would be easy to grab some hot food from a street vendor or casual cafe along the way.

The snack bar here is the ultimate convenience if you need a cold drink, or something to hold you over until dinner. Depending on the season and time of day, you may also be able to buy some food from one of the mobile vendors who operate at or near this spot.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. Happily, the off-shore waters are of good snorkeling quality, so bring along some gear if you're wanting to check out the underwater sites. Visitors won't find big crowds at Anse Mitan. You'll have the area mostly to yourelf.

Be mindful that the region in which Anse Mitan is located is rather congested, so make sure to get a spot!
