Swimming and snorkeling are available at Anse Mitan, but beware of the deep water. The golden beaches are perfect for sunbathing, however.

Positioned on the eastern outskirts of L'Anse Mitan, 3.9 miles south of Fort de France, this beach is on the South West edge of Martinique. You might want whether or not you're staying particularly close by. Though there are a lot of choices to be made on vacation, choosing a suitable beach may be one of the more important things you do. Before you arrive, consider some of Martinique's most interesting options, like Anse Mitan.

Amenities and Ambiance

The golden beaches of Anse Mitan feature clear but deep water. The shore is spotted with palm trees, which conceal a few small bistros. There are no reefs or barriers to protect the beach and few fish can be seen in the water's depths.

There is also a restaurant right on the water, so if you don't want to leave Anse Mitan at all, it's worth a try. Every nation has its own cuisine, and Martinique is no different. One of the best places to experience the local specialties is right next to the coast. With this in mind, you might ask your hotel if they offer to pack picnic lunches for their guests. Otherwise, there are plenty of walk-up vendors that offer hot, on-the-go food.

Even if you plan to dine elsewhere, the snack bar on-site could come in handy. If available, you could also buy some food from one of the mobile vendors who typically set up at this spot.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, but you may be able to find facilities at a nearby business. You'll find the waters off-shore to be clear and good for snorkeling, so grab some gear if you're looking to see what goes on beneath the surface. Visitors won't find big crowds at Anse Mitan. You'll have the area mostly to yourelf.

Since Anse Mitan is of course located inside an area commonly frequented by travelers, you'll want to plan accordingly.
