Anse Noire

Known mainly for its black sand and boat dock, Anse Noire receives few visitors. However, it is known that the sea bed her is particularly interesting, so snorkeling and scuba diving is an option.

Located on the island of Martinique, 5.6 miles south of Fort de France, Anse Noire is on the South West coast of the island, You might want even if you aren't staying nearby. Although there are certainly more secluded beaches on Martinique than Anse Noire, it has the right combination of charm and personality to attract families and couples alike.

How to Access The Beach
Visitors can take the dedicated road to the beach called Chemin Rural de L'Anse Dufour. The road will eventually split left and right. Go right and you'll be at the beach in less than a minute.

Amenities and Ambiance

The beach is shrouded by trees and hills, offering quite a bit of privacy from the outside world.

Please note that public restrooms are not available. Fortunately, the water here is clear enough for snorkeling, so bring your gear if you're looking to see what goes on beneath the surface.

What's Nearby


Travelers will find Anse Noire on Martinique's South West coast. It is close to Planete Dauphins, which is found a mile and a half to the northeast, and it is one of a number of attractions close-by.

History-focused attractions such as La Savane des Esclaves are a nice compliment to the scenery of Anse Noire, and allow visitors to learn more about Martinique, without having to stray too far from the beach.

Other Beaches

Anse Noire isn't the only beach worth checking out on Martinique.

You may also like Les Salines, which is in a pretty active location. It is located 15 and a half miles to the southeast. Les Salines is the perfect Martinique beach for travelers seeking bright sun and white sand. If you'd rather try a more private, less popular location, consider Anse Dufour. It is located only a short distance away.

Another option worth considering is Plage de Madiana, located six miles to the north.

Of course, there are lots of other things to do and see on Martinique; then again, Anse Noire is both a relaxing, sunny hangout and a stunning natural feature.
