Anse Tartane

Anse Tartane is a small beach. However, what it is missing in sand it makes up for in waves. The rough water at this beach has put it on the radar of many local and visiting surfers. Not much else is for the beach, as the rough waves can make swimming tough, and even nappers at the far end of the beach can be hit by a wave.

Located on the island of Martinique, 6.9 miles north-northeast of Le Robert, Anse Tartane is on the North East edge of the island, You should think about stopping by even if you aren't staying in the vicinity. It's often said that Anse Tartane is the ideal location for getting away from vacation stresses, like overly crowded restaurants and attractions. Most other beaches you'll come across on Martinique may be just as refreshing as Anse Tartane, but are usually busier because they're right around the corner from the area's major hotels and resorts.

How to Access The Beach
You can reach Anse Tartane by traveling up the aptly named Rue du Surf, right off the Highway D-2.

Please note that public restrooms are not available, which is something to consider if you're bringing the kids, or plan to spend all day outside.

Anse Tartane offers visitors a calm and peaceful enclave, especially since the location that surrounds the beach contains little build-up and is free of urbanization.

Beachgoers will find Anse Tartane on Martinique's North East coast. It is close to Château Dubuc, which is situated three quarters of a mile away, and it is one of the the area's interesting attractions.

If you're interested in combining culture with your visit to the beach, you may want to consider visiting Musee de la Banane. This museum is located seven miles away, so it would be an easy side trip to take after some time in the sun.

Anse Tartane is close to Sainte Marie, so touring the city could be a fun side-trip after visiting the beach. The closest town is Sainte Marie, which is an area with plenty to do, but yet isn't overcrowded. From the beach, Sainte Marie is a car ride off, about six and a half miles (ten kilometers) away.

Travelers who like this beach might also enjoy Anse l'Entang, located just a little ways away. More active guests, though, may be interested in Plage de Cosmy, which offers a little more opportunity for excitement, and is closer to other tourist hot-spots. You'll find it four and a half miles to the west.

You may also enjoy Sainte-Marie Beach, located reasonably close-by, so a quick ride in a taxi can take you where you want to go.
