Pack your passport when visiting Martinique

When traveling internationally, you have to bring the necessary paperwork to get into the country. Vacationing on Martinique requires that visitors bring certain documents and identification before enjoying all of the beauty and charm of the island.

Entry Requirements

In order to vacation on Martinique you must provide customs officials with a return or ongoing ticket as well as a few documents confirming your identity. Visitors from the United States must present their passport.

French nationals, European Union members, and those who reside in the European Economic Area, Andorra, Monaco, and Switzerland need only their valid government-issued identification cards.

All other visitors must present a visa, regardless of the length of their stay, and the above listed visitors will need a visa should their stay last longer than three months.

Getting Hitched

Many couples are swept off their feet by the romantic beauty of Martinique, and want to tie the knot while vacationing on the island. The set back in getting married while on Martinique is that couples have to reside on the island for at least a month before a marriage certificate will be issued, so it may be best to get married elsewhere and spend your honeymoon on this beautiful island. If you're not discouraged by the long wait, here are the other requirements for getting married:

  • A birth certificate with a raised seal

  • A notarized document proving single status

  • A certificate of good conduct

  • Residency card proving that one of the couple has been on the island for at least a month

  • A medical certificate issued within three months of marriage

Vacationers from all across the world come to Martinique to experience all of its sophisticated French culture and gorgeous white sand beaches. This is no problem as long as you have all of the necessary paperwork and identification.
