There's plenty to do and see both in and out of the water at Pointe du Bout. Watch the boats come in to dock or take in the local shops. There are also plenty of fine places at which to take lunch or dinner.

Located in Pointe du Bout, 3.5 miles south-southeast of Fort de France, this beach is on the South West coast of Martinique. You might think about stopping by even if you aren't staying nearby. Vacationers who prefer to walk rather than drive around Martinique will find that Pointe du Bout is a good choice for them. More than likely, this beach is near many of the attractions you already plan to visit, since it is located in a pretty major tourist area.

Amenities and Ambiance

Pointe du Bout is a small, narrow man-made beach that is home to several marinas and an abundance of hotels and resorts. The beach is lined with restaurants, shops, and facilities. Though the sand is nice and white, the water is somewhat murky due to industrial use.

You could always try the restaurant right on the water, if it suits your taste. There are several, unique dining options on Martinique, but not every meal needs to be eaten in a formal setting. Some vacationers simply sit on their towels——not in a restaurant——to enjoy lunch. Sometimes, hotels offer to pack up on-the-go lunches for their guests. Otherwise, you could easily grab some of Martinique's famous street food along the way.

The concession stand located here is another lunchtime alternative. On some days, it may be possible to try local specialties from one of the mobile vendors who typically operate along this coastline.

Lots of visitors make use of the picnic tables at Pointe du Bout, which make beach dining less messy, and are good spots for lounging.

Restrooms are available at Pointe du Bout. You'll also find umbrellas and chairs here, so visitors looking for a break from the hot sun will get their wish. The water in the area is clear and good for snorkeling, so grab your equipment if you're hoping to find some interesting marine life. Pointe de Bout is crowded with tourists staying in the area's pricey hotels. The throng is also largely French, so if you don't speak the language, take a translation guide.

Still, you ought to be sensitive to the fact that while there will be options for comforts on location if you go to Pointe du Bout, it will be located inside an area that sees many visitors. What this means is that if you feel that these amenities influence your decision, it'll likely be a smart motivator to make it there earlier in the morning before most of the crowds or perhaps even going to a more secluded beach away from the major areas. Or you might not be able to take advantage of all the services that this beach has for its guests.
