Big Bay Beach

This beach on the eastern coast of Mayaguana is a quiet little place to get away for some line fishing, shelling, or simply for a nice stroll. It's a simple place with little in the way of facilities, but if you're already on the island, then the isolation of it is probably just what you're looking for.

Situated on the western coast of the island of Mayaguana, near Abrams Bay, You should consider dropping by whether or not you are staying nearby. You will generally find the beach to be rather roomy, as the surrounding area and the beach itself are not overflowing with tourists.

How to Access The Beach
The beach is located north of Betsy Bay. Access by taking the island's main road east as far as it will go. You can't help but run right up next to the ocean.

Amenities and Ambiance

At this remote spot, you might get a chance to see the mailboat that comes in once a week to this small island. The beach curves ever so slightly against this small, remote island's easternmost coast.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, so if you're visiting with small children you might want to consider a different location.

Big Bay Beach provides a quiet and serene haven, since the region surrounding the beach isn't too crowded at all.

What's Nearby


Big Bay Beach is always a lovely side-trip when you're in the area. Look for it on the West coast of Mayaguana. You can stay at the nearby Baycaner Beach Resort, which is one of the closest hotels near Big Bay Beach, despite the fact that there aren't many additional attractions in the vicinity.


Whether this spot is full of bodies or practically empty will depend on many factors, including the capacity of nearby hotels. There are not many major hotels nearby, but it's sometimes enjoyed by visitors from some of the area's smaller options.


There aren't any restaurants near this coastal destination, so it would be a good idea to plan a picnic if you want to fully enjoy your day in the sun.

Of course, there are lots of other spots along the coast of Mayaguana, so Big Bay Beach is not your only option.
