Mayagüez is home to one of Puerto Rico's domestic airports, which means tourists can save even more travel time by flying to the international airport then making a connecting flight to the Eugenio Maria de Hostos Airport.
The largest airport in Isla Verde just outside of San Juan. This is the major international airport, and the spot that most tourists will land in when they first fly to the island. Not only is this the most popular point of entry in Puerto Rico, but the airport serves as a major hub in the Caribbean as a whole. For this reason, over 8 million passengers pass through these terminals each year.is (SJU) in
The airport originally opened in May of 1955, and has expanded significantly since that time. Today, the facilities include two runways (one concrete and one asphalt), four terminals, a food court, a shopping center, and a collection of conference rooms.

The cost of a rental is between $40 and $70(USD) a day, and the trip takes between two and three hours depending on the route you take. The fastest route sees drivers take PR 26 and exit on PR 22. From there they will merge onto PR 2 West, take a left onto Calle Candelaria, a right onto Calle Pineiro, a left onto Calle Estacion, and then one final left onto Calle Eduardo Riera.
