The largest zoo in Puerto Rico, the Mayaguez zoo features at least 75 different animal species spread out over about thirty exhibits. While it will not stand up against the larger zoos of the world, it provides a great educational experience and a good way to spend the day.
Guests to the zoo will have plenty of opportunity to see all the animals. The included audio tour will give you facts about each one, while staff onsite will help answer any additional questions that you might have. With around 30 exhibits and plenty of animals, you should be able to spend a couple of hours here at least.
Located in the outer region of Mayagüez, a half mile north-northeast of downtown, Mayaguez Zoo always welcomes residents and tourists lodging in this part of the city or a nearby area. Even if you aren't staying particularly close, you should consider dropping by to enjoy a great time.

The zoo is open from 8:30am until 4:00pm Wednesdays through Sunday.
Admission into the zoo costs $13 for everyone 12 and up, and $8 for those younger. Seniors receive a discount and will only pay $6.50. Admission includes an audio tour in your choice of English or Spanish. There is also a parking fee of $3 per car, and an additional $1 for large cars.
