Nagua is not exactly what you would call a bustling tourist town. It is, however, populated by those that work in the administrative and agricultural sectors, so many of the perks you would find in a mid-sized city are available here. This includes taxis, however limited the services may be.
Hailing a taxi on the streets is something that is unlikely to happen. Your best bet is to arrive prepared with the number of the local operator on hand so that when you are in need of a ride, they will send someone to pick you up.
is the only taxi service for which we have detailed info. You will be able to call them at (809) 584-2279; they're located on Duarte 76 in the heart of Nagua.
Taxis in Nagua remain unmetered and unregulated by the government. This allows each company to set their own rates, which can be confusing for visitors. The best thing to do is to ask your driver how much it will cost you to get to your destination. Don't be afraid to offer an alternative price, as long as you do so respectfully, and remember to keep extra cash on hand for a tip.
Because they are not as readily available as most tourists would like, taxis are not the most recommended form of transportation in Nagua. It is still possible to use the service, but arriving prepared is essential if you'd like to do so without any added frustrations.
