Balcony House Museum

This museum is housed in what is believed to be the oldest house on the island. Today it offers a look back into the early period of Nassau and to see how daily life was for some.

This site presents for travelers a distinct glimpse about how the people of this country view the subject. Included amongst the bounteous presentations at this museum, patrons will likely make note of a group of permanent exhibits. These are this site's enduring displays.

It is hard to miss this bright pink and white rimmed house. Built in the 1700's, this colonial house shows the standard of living a well-off colonialist would have had.

And, one of the most enjoyable options while spending a few hours exploring the area is enjoying food at a restaurant within traveling distance of the museum. The nearest eatery is Talking Stick, which offers Caribbean meals. Talking Stick is just about about a hundred yards from this landmark, so stop in and eat up! Also within reach, you and your group will encounter restaurants such as Smugglers Cafe and Graycliff where you and your group can not end your meal without taking a bite of their specialty seafood.

Operating Hours

The house opens Monday through Friday at 9:30am, and closes everyday except for Thursday at 4:30pm. On Thursday, the Balcony House stays ipen until 10:00pm.

Admission is free, though they do graciously accept donations.
