The capital city of Nassau covers quite a bit of area on New Providence Island which includes the busy shore front of Cable Beach, all along the north coast, around the eastern tip, and halfway across the southern shore. Within this area, you'll find a lot of variation. Most would advise you skip the southern beaches, which don't have much to recommend them, head to Cable Beach for the most on-site facilities, and find a spot along the northeast coast for something a little quieter.
You'll find an abundance of beaches to visit in and around the area. You can click on specific beach names for more information concerning that particular stretch of sand.
Junkanoo Beach: The beach is right next to Western Esplanade Beach in the north of Nassau and is not as sprawling as some other nearby beaches you may find. Thus, it stays relatively quiet except for certain part of the year - Spring Break, for example.
Another place that beach-goers can consider is Goodman Beach. The spectacular aquamarine water make this a perfect place to cool off in the water and the fine white sand begs you yo put down a towel and work on your tan. From the shore, you'll be looking out onto Goodman Bay.
South Beach: Frequented almost exclusively by locals, this somewhat narrow beach is blessed with lots of natural shade from the the mangroves which line the coast here. The water is calm, clear and mostly shallow - perfect for casual swimming and wading.
