Beaches in Nassau

The capital city of Nassau covers quite a bit of area on New Providence Island which includes the busy shore front of Cable Beach, all along the north coast, around the eastern tip, and halfway across the southern shore.  Within this area, you'll find a lot of variation.  Most would advise you skip the southern beaches, which don't have much to recommend them, head to Cable Beach for the most on-site facilities, and find a spot along the northeast coast for something a little quieter.

Western Esplanade Beach

Junkanoo Beach: The beach is accessible by car, running right along West Bay Street in northern Nassau. You'll find it curving away from Arawak Cay.

A second alternative for beach-goers to consider is Goodman Beach. A real beach paradise, this popular destination near the center of bustling Nassau is frequented by tourists and locals alike. It has become a favorite spot for joggers and food vendors, and the true Bahamas vibe is capped off by the reggae and calypso music you will hear all along the beach.

South Beach: Frequented almost exclusively by locals, this somewhat narrow beach is blessed with lots of natural shade from the the mangroves which line the coast here. The water is calm, clear and mostly shallow - perfect for casual swimming and wading.
