Built immediately after the American Revolution to reinforce the island, Fort Charlotte is a colonial fort that has never actually seen battle. Despite this, it stands today as a reminder that the Caribbean was not always the peaceful paradise it is today.
If you find your way to Fort Charlotte, you will able to tour it and take a look at its still mounted cannons, as well as learn of the British Colonialism on the island.
Consider staying in Nassau if you plan on visiting Fort Charlotte, since travelers to this part of the Bahamas will have the benefit of convenient access to the historical site for the duration of their trip. Despite the fact that the area isn't over-crowded, you will still find a fair number of lodgings to pick from.
