Snorkeling Around Nassau

Nassau is the tourism mecca of the Bahamas, and from the moment you arrive on the island there will be people there ready to guide you from attraction to attraction.  While there are many distractions to keep you busy from sunrise to sundown, snorkeling is one you absolutely will not want to miss.

There are many different organizations and locals that make their living by offering guided tours of the best snorkeling spots around the island.  In truth, you can rent equipment and snorkel from any of the beaches, however, they won't always offer the most prolific coral breeding grounds or enough colorful fish to keep your interest.

Most resorts and hotels on the island offer snorkeling equipment to their guests free of charge, but if you happen to be staying somewhere that does not, check out any local watersports facility and dive centers for rental opportunities.  Some of the busier beaches also have snorkeling stands set up along the shore offering rentals as well.

Snorkeling Boat Trips

Some people believe the best snorkeling is located off shore.

If you're ready to combine some snorkeling with a boating adventure, you might want to check with Sunshine Cruises. Take a gentle day cruise out into the Bahamian waters and look down through the glass flow at the fish below. This unique boat lets you see directly under the crystal clear water without keeping wet, though nothing is stopping you from jumping into the water, so you have that choice to.

Another option to consider is Barefoot Sailing Cruises. Barefoot Sailing Cruises has three vessels in their fleet: Wind Dance, Riding High, and Foot Loose. The tours offered include a half day sail and snorkeling adventure, an extended half day snorkeling and beach adventure, and an all day snorkel island cruise. They're found within northern Nassau.

Still another option is Party Cat Cruises. You won't find a charter service offering a more fun experience than this one. Whether you're throwing a bachelor party, hosting a wedding, or just want to get in some diving, fishing, or snorkeling, they will work with you to create the perfect day out on the boat.
