Western Esplanade Beach

A tremendously popular beach mainly due to its close proximity to and easy access from Nassau's busy downtown, this has become a favorite stop for many spring breakers. With snack bars and restaurants close by, and reggae music booming from the speakers, this can be a fun place to hang out for a few hours, particularly if you're already in the area.

Located on the edge of Nassau, a quarter mile west-northwest of downtown, Western Esplanade Beach is on the North East edge of New Providence. You might want to drop by even if you aren't staying nearby. The Bahamas' beaches are known for being soothing, less-traveled spots along the coast. While these beaches are a perfect fit for some, those who like to keep active will find there's much more variety at Western Esplanade Beach.

How to Access The Beach
The beach runs along West Bay Street, stretching westward from the British Colonial Hilton. There are a number of parking areas to choose from.

Amenities and Ambiance

The beach itself is what you picture when you think "beach in the Bahamas" - spectacularly white, powdery sand, clear blue-green water, and tropical trees to sit under for a little respite from the hot sun.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, which is something to consider if you're bringing the kids, or plan to spend all day outside.

Since Western Esplanade Beach can be found in a relatively urbanized region, you might need to hunt to get a spot!
