Legend has it that Bloody Bay got its name after a particularly bloody pirate battle took place her, but today you'll find more tourists on these shores than buccaneers. Because a large number of resorts edge out the beach, many people believe that sections of the beach are owned by the resort that sits in front of it. In actuality, Blood Bay is a public beach where clothing is optional and snorkeling is a favored pastime.

Set on the northern outskirts of Negril Beach Hotel Zone, 2.9 miles south west of Orange Bay, Bloody Bay is on the West coast of Jamaica. You should consider dropping by even if you aren't staying in the vicinity. Travelers who like to see and do as much as they can will like this beach due to its busy, urban location. In fact, Bloody Bay would be especially convenient for guests of the nearby hotels, and people who thrive in crowds of fellow visitors.

How to Access The Beach
Bloody Bay can be found just off Norman Manely Boulevard near the Negril Aerodome. Turn onto the side road at Breezes Grand Resort and Spa, and follow it right to the sand.

Amenities and Ambiance

Lined with sprawling resorts and bowed palm trees, Bloody Bay features white to tan sands speckled with colorful shells, and clear, calm azure waters. Not far off shore is a shallow coral reef structure.

You'll also discover that there is a restaurant on the shore worth trying. Each country in the Caribbean has its own culinary style, and Jamaica is no different. One of the most memorable places to enjoy the local fare is right on the water. Did you know that some hotels are happy to pack picnic lunches for their guests? Or, on your way to the beach you could grab some carry-out from a casual dining spot.

Many visitors find themselves ordering a drink or snack from the concessions here, even if they move off-site for lunch.

Unfortunately, public restrooms aren't available, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. Fortunately, there are lounge chairs available at this destination. The water in the area is clear and good for snorkeling, so grab your equipment if you're wanting to check out the underwater sites.

Bloody Bay as well as its offering of amenities can be located inside a tourist hotspot. If busy-beaches are not something you want, it is an appropriate reason to think ahead to beat all the other tourists, perhaps having your beach visit before the sun it at its hottest. Or you may lose the chance to completely enjoy all the services that Bloody Bay offers its guests.
