Although there is an international airport located on Nevis, it is rare to encounter a direct flight to the tiny island. Instead, international travelers will use one of four gateways which reside on St. Kitts, Puerto Rico, Antigua, and St. Maarten. Where your flight originates from will typically determine which Caribbean Island will connect you to your final destination.
On the smaller side for an international airport, Vance W. Amory International Airport (NEV) features a single asphalt runway that measures just under 4,000 feet long. Recent renovations has made the terminal a modern facility that is up to par with most other major airports in the region, yet direct flights remain at a minimum. The airport is located in Newcastle.
As previously noted, there are four gateways to Amory International. The most important one to address is the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport (SKB) on Nevis' larger sister island of St. Kitts. This airport is not necessarily one you might consider a regional hub, but it is a popular choice because many people visiting Nevis do so as a part of a trip to both islands so flying originally to St. Kitts simply makes the most sense. As you'll see on the charts below, Delta, US Airways, and American Airlines all fly to St. Kitts from the United States, Air Canada makes the journey from Toronto, and British Airways and Virgin Atlantic fly from Europe. Once you've arrived on St. Kitts you have the option of flying to Amory International with regional airline LIAT or to take a cab to the docks and enjoy a 45 minute sail aboard a local ferry. You can find out more about this particular option here.

These days, a connecting flight between the airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Amory International is growing in popularity to those visiting from the United States. Cape Air, Air Sunshine, American Airlines, and United Airlines all offer regular fights between the two destinations, making it easy for visitors on a specific schedule to book a flight that works for them. Beginning in January 2014, Seaborne Airlines will also fly this route.
Air Sunshine also flies to Nevis from St. Maarten, the British Virgin Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Travelers from Europe will often land first at the airport on St. Maarten, and from there they can switch to a plane traveling to Amory International. Fights from the Virgin Islands are much more rare.
Another option for European and Canadian travelers is to fly into Antigua then switch to a flight hosted by LIAT that will get you the remainder of the way to Nevis.
Check below for a complete list of air service from airports in the region. Even if there are no flights directly from your favorite airport, connecting through another regional airport might prove to be an excellent option.
