The terrain of New Providence Island is relatively smooth, making bike riding a less strenuous activity here than on other islands in the chain. Whether you choose to use the power of your own legs, or rent a motor-powered scooter, riding around on the often congested streets can often take some getting used to, and blind corners can be perilous, so always be cautions. If you're staying at a large resort, you'll probably be able to get a hold of a bike from the front desk, but there are a few stand-alone rental locations along Cable Beach and elsewhere in Nassau.
If you are considering exploring the area in the open air there are several businesses that can help you.
If you'd like to go riding, you should consider Unique Rentals. Make your exploration of Nassau a "unique" one when you get a hold of a scooter from Unique Rentals. This company offers rentals of several different types of vehicles including scooters and buggies. They are located within Nassau, New Providence Island.
Another good option is Bowcar Scooters Cable Beach. All of the scooters are 125cc which fit two passengers, and rentals include the helmets, insurance, and gas. If you'll be signing up for a tour, you'll be guided through the western part of the island for three hours and enjoy free refreshments as part of the trip. They can be reached at (242) 328-7300.
A third good option is Bowcar Scooters East. In addition to being able to rent a scooter, you can also sign up for a guided scooter tour with Bowcar. The tours last three hours and includes the scooter, helmets, and refreshments. They're found in downtown Nassau.
