South Beach

Between Cay Point and Long Point, this quiet strip of white sand is usually deserted, and makes for a nice little escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Nassau. This well-kept secret is worth a visit if you have a rental car.

Located four and a half miles south of downtown Nassau, South Beach is on the South East coast of New Providence. You should consider dropping by regardless of whether you're staying in the vicinity. Those of you who want the best of both worlds——a sense of seclusion, but the option for activity—— should pay a visit to South Beach. It's slightly off the beaten path, but it's also not completely secluded.

How to Access The Beach
From downtown Nassau, take Baillou Hill Rd south. Staying on this, you'll reach meeting point of Zion Blvd and Cowpen Rd, but continuing straight will put you on S Beach Rd, which, as the name implies, will take you directly to the beach.

Amenities and Ambiance

Frequented almost exclusively by locals, this somewhat narrow beach is blessed with lots of natural shade from the the mangroves which line the coast here. The water is calm, clear and mostly shallow - perfect for casual swimming and wading.

Please note that public restrooms are not available, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot.

South Beach offers a quiet and serene haven, thanks to the fact that the surrounding area isn't too crowded at all.
