South Beach

Between Cay Point and Long Point, this quiet strip of white sand is usually deserted, and makes for a nice little escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Nassau. This well-kept secret is worth a visit if you have a rental car.

Located four and a half miles south of downtown Nassau, South Beach is on the South East coast of New Providence. You might want whether or not you're staying in the vicinity. The Bahamas' beaches are pretty busy for the most part, but South Beach is less exposed than the others, making it a good pick for those of you who want to stay away from big crowds, but still get the most out of their beach visit.

How to Access The Beach
From downtown Nassau, take Baillou Hill Rd south. Staying on this, you'll reach meeting point of Zion Blvd and Cowpen Rd, but continuing straight will put you on S Beach Rd, which, as the name implies, will take you directly to the beach.

Amenities and Ambiance

Frequented almost exclusively by locals, this somewhat narrow beach is blessed with lots of natural shade from the the mangroves which line the coast here. The water is calm, clear and mostly shallow - perfect for casual swimming and wading.

Please note that public restrooms are not available.

South Beach brings visitors an angelic and peaceful retreat, in part because the location that surrounds the beach contains little build-up and is free of urbanization.
