Many tourists look forward to utilizing the local bus system when they are on vacation because it helps them get a real island experience, not to mention saves a great deal of money. When you stay in Ocho Rios, however, this possibility is limited.
Buses are not generally a feasible means of getting around Ocho Rios because they are rarely run here, and when they do they are unreliable. They do, however, make a great transportation option if you have your heart set on exploring some of Jamaica's other large cities like Montego Bay, Kingston, or Port Antonio.
Head to the Transportation Centre on Evelyn Street, where you can find buses to all of these cities for about $4(USD) a trip. Make sure to have local currency on you in small bills, and be aware that there is very rarely air conditioning on these buses.

While it is possible to take the bus in Ocho Rios, it is not something you can depend on. Keep it in mind as an option as you explore the island, but you should also be sure to have other options planned to help you get around as well.
