Grande Beach

Parasailing is one of the hottest watersports on Grande Beach. The beach itself, which is cleaned daily, is a great spot for sunbathers though umbrellas may be difficult to come by sometimes. It is a private beach for those staying at the nearby hotels, and locals can also visit for free.

Located in downtown Ocho Rios, Grande Beach is on the North East edge of Jamaica. You should consider stopping by whether or not you're staying particularly close by. Active and social travelers may particularly enjoy this beach due to its crowded, urban location. In fact, Grande Beach would be most convenient for those who are staying in the hotels nearby, and those who don't mind large groups of people.

How to Access The Beach
The beach can be reached easily from Ocho Rios on the northern coast of the island.

Amenities and Ambiance

There is a fair amount of seaweed in the water here, but being tucked in a cove protects swimmers from harsh waves. You'll likely see an interesting variety of boats and even cruise ships coming in and out of the nearby port.

There is also a snack bar here. Sometimes, visitors will be able to purchase food from one of the mobile vendors who operate at or near this spot.

Please note that public restrooms are not available, which is something to consider if you're bringing the kids, or plan to spend all day outside.

Be mindful that the area surrounding Grande Beach is an urban area, so factor that into your plans.

Other Beaches

There are multiple beaches to discover in Jamaica, of course, so Grande Beach is just one of your options.

If the active mood at Grande Beach has you wanting more of the same, you'll want to consider heading to Steer Town Beach, a spot with the same type of electricity. However, if you're looking to enjoy a quieter scene, Turtle Beach is an area secluded from lots of tourists and buildings.

Vacationers may also want to visit Dunn's River Beach, which is an additional nearby Jamaica destination. Dunn's River Beach offers vacationers the chance to get a bird's eye view of Jamaica from the top of its majestic falls.

Perhaps Grande Beach is the most convenient coastline for you to visit, but some travelers itch to explore more; in which case you should keep looking for a beach or natural attraction that suits your vacation style.
