Once a foothold of power for the naval might of the Spanish Empire, the Spanish Naval Force in Puerto Rico once helped Spain control the Caribbean. The building itself is part of that history, as it was the final stronghold of Spain against the United States during the Spanish-American War. Today, the majority of the museum is dedicated to fine art.
Visitors will to El Arsenal will be able to view a few exhibits detailing the Spanish influence on Puerto Rico. However, most come to see the three main exhibits that all showcase a collection of fine art. The exhibits are constantly changing, however, so be sure to check it out and realize that things may not be the same next time you come.
El Arsenal De La Marina: Gallery is located in Old San Juan, which means those visiting this region of Puerto Rico will be pleased to have during their visit. While the region isn't over-crowded, you'll nevertheless find a reasonably varied selection of lodging options to choose from.

Outdoor amusements like hitting a few rounds of golf and beach-going are by no means hard to come by in the area. El Arsenal De La Marina: Gallery patrons with a keen interest in golf will surely enjoy heading over to nearby Fort Buchanan Golf Club. If golfing isn't your thing, consider going over to Escambrion Beach, the most convenient beach to visit. But, many other golf and beach attractions remain in the vicinity. Visitors will encounter a variety of other interesting places to get away from the sun in this general area. For those not wanting to have to travel a great distance, there are two additional interesting places nearby to visit-- and Casa Ramon Power y Giralt.
The museum is open Wednesday though Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
